We Can, a resource centre for children with autism spectrum disorder, is organising a number of events in the run-up to World Autism Awareness Day, which falls on April 2, a note from the organisation said. On Friday, students of the centre will take a trip to The Learning Community at Quest, Palavakkam, to engage in activities. On April 2, a community event at the car-free Elliot’s Beach stretch in Besant Nagar will be held from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. to be inaugurated by Carnatic vocalist Bombay Jayashri, followed by an art activity and outdoor games, where anyone present can join in.

Also, Ripon Buildings and Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road will be among the buildings lit in blue to support autism awareness. An exhibition and sale of paper-quilled jewellery by pre-vocational students of the centre will be on at Anokhi Boutique, Chamiers Road and Unemployed Brains Boutique, Besant Nagar.
