The lights at Fort Carson Gate One will be shining blue for several days in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.

2017 marks the third year Fort Carson has participated in the event. The World Autism Awareness Day Light It Up Blue initiative was adopted by the United Nations in 2007 to raise awareness of autism.

The lights will change Friday night and a ceremony is scheduled at Kit Carson Park near Gate One on Sunday at 7 p.m. The ceremony will celebrate and honor the unique talents and skills of people with autism and their needs.

The event is hosted by the Fort Carson Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Army Community Service Exceptional Family Member Program.
